Phil Browne
Director of Education & Outreach
During a 35 year career in education, Phil Browne has taught all of the major disciplines of science to students from pre-school to adulthood. His “classrooms” have extended to include a wide variety of aquatic and terrestrial habitats.
An attendee at numerous educational workshops, Phil creates new curricula that he first shares with his students and then with his teaching peers through a variety of outreach experiences, the most successful of these being Forest Watch that he co-founded with mentor, colleague and Celebration of the Sea Foundation Director of Science and Research, Dr. Barry Rock of the University of New Hampshire. Phil’s outreach efforts have earned him numerous awards which include New Hampshire’s Biology Teacher and Environmental Teacher of the Year, and the Presidential Award for Science Education. Phil has a BA in Biology from Lycoming College and a Masters in Biology from UNH.
