Celebration of the Sea Foundation Makes Donation In Affiliation with Audacy and REVERB to Create New Whale Shark Curriculum with the Guy Harvey Ocean Foundation

Funds were raised through the sale of reusable water bottles at Audacy Beach Festival

Fort Lauderdale, Florida (September 27, 2022) – The Guy Harvey Ocean Foundation (GHOF) announced the receipt of a $13,000 donation, which came from the proceeds of reusable water bottles sold during last year’s Audacy Beach Festival in Fort Lauderdale. This fundraising initiative was put together by Celebration of the Sea Foundation, REVERB, and Audacy, the event’s organizer, who have all partnered to promote ocean conservation, education and sustainability.

The funds will be directed towards the creation and implementation of a new whale shark curriculum which is initially slated for use by US and Mexican students and teachers and is now being produced in collaboration between GHOF and the Celebration of the Sea Foundation. The announcement was made by Patxi Pastor, Founder & CEO of the Celebration of the See Foundation, and Jessica Harvey, GHOF Co-Chair and Chief Branding Officer, during their recent research and video production trip to Isla Mujeres in Mexico to document whale sharks at the largest known aggregation in the world.

“I’m very proud of the amazing work that Patxi and Jessica continue to do as they keep forging these valuable partnerships,” said Dr. Guy Harvey, GHOF Chairman Emeritus and world-renowned artist and conservationist. “Working on initiatives like this with partners who share our values and vision, like the Celebration of the Sea Foundation, REVERB and Audacy, will certainly keep strengthening our organization and its ability to raise funds that will help save our oceans.”

The GHOF is a non-profit organization that conducts scientific research and hosts educational programs aimed at conserving the marine environment. The Foundation also funds affiliated researchers working to better understand our ocean’s ecosystem and educators fostering the next era of marine conservationists, thus helping ensure that future generations can enjoy and benefit from a properly balanced ocean ecosystem.

The Celebration of the Sea Foundation works to engage, educate and inspire people around the world to protect the ocean and the world’s natural resources. A specific focus of all their initiatives is to develop resilient communities and promote STREAM (Science, Technology, Resiliency, Engineering, Arts & Music) education and career paths.

“I’m thrilled to be able to donate the funds we’ve raised, in collaboration with REVERB and Audacy through my Celebration of the Sea Foundation, to the Guy Harvey Ocean Foundation,” said Pastor. “This is such an amazing team working with Audacy, David Field, Jamie Allman, Reverb and all the fans that are buying our water bottles. Working together, we are making a major difference in the world protecting our oceans. Dr. Harvey and his daughter Jessica continue to do such important work in support of students and teachers through their Guy Harvey Ocean Foundation. This new whale shark educational curriculum will help to engage and excite students who will serve as the next generation to help conserve and protect our fragile marine environment. My Foundation is so proud to be part of this wonderful team.”
