Celebration of the Sea & fieldXperience Have Riptide Festival 2019 Training Student Professionals To Be Work-Ready While Improving Live Event Workforce
Education Meets Experience On Some Of The Biggest Experiential Stages In The Country
Celebration of the Sea is proud to continue serving as the official charity of Entercom Communications’ Riptide Music Festival which is attended each year by over 30,000 people on Fort Lauderdale beach. The event serves as South Florida’s largest alternative and classic hits music festival. This year’s 2019 event will be held on November 23rd and 24th and will be headlined by leading acts such as: The Killers, The 1975, Jimmy Eat World, Judah & The Lion, The Revivalists, & many more!
As the official charity of Riptide, the Celebration of the Sea Foundation will again produce and host the “Celebration of the Sea Pavilion” and the event’s “Eco-Discovery Zone” which will feature a wide variety of environmental education and community resiliency exhibits and activities. Celebration of the Sea will be collaborating with leading brands to create large-scale public events and activations that inspire, educate and engage people around the world to protect the ocean and natural resources. A specific focus of the exhibits will focus on the development of resilient communities and STREAM (Science, Technology, Recreation, Engineering, Arts & Music) education.
Riptide’s “Celebration of the Sea Pavilion” is designed to increase over-arching awareness towards community resilience and environmental conservation as the hub of all the amazing interactive experiences that Riptide attendees post, share and continue to talk about for years to come. The exhibits feature a wide variety of exciting and innovative environmental and educational hands-on activities and exhibits 3D underwater artificial reef diving experiences with Pompano Beach Shipwreck Park (Tututle stetment) Yashis stemtent etc. and a beach cleanup. The exhibits are co-hosted this year by Shipwreck Park, Sea Turtle Oversight Protection, Scuba Nation, and Ft. Lauderdale Beach Sweep!
Celebration of the Sea Foundation is excited to partner with KAHANI for identifying the environmental benefits of eliminating single use plastic cutlery and styrofoam food containers from the event. KAHANI will also be creating a waste management plan for Riptide Festival to reduce their environmental impact from the event, focusing on food waste and single use plastics. KAHANI will be weaving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals into all the efforts from Celebration of the Sea Foundation during the Riptide Festival 2019.
Additionally, Celebration of the Sea Foundation is pleased to announce that this year a unique new partnership at Riptide with FieldXperience, who is preparing the next generation of student professionals to be work-ready while improving organizations’ live event workforce. FieldXperience has developed a 2-part program where education meets experience combining book learning with experience on some of the biggest experiential stages in the country – the Riptide Music Festival is the perfect experiential learning lab for local students who are especially passionate about environmental resiliency. The Celebration of the Sea and FiledXperience stall will incorporate and feature students from Keiser University’s Environmental Studies and Sport Management to name a few, as well as Broward Community College students from multiple disciplines. Concession operations for the Riptide Festival are provided by Martini Bar Doral Catering & Events which utilizes bio-degradable and compostable serving vessels eliminating single use plastic and styrofoam to support the environment.
